Venice Megalodon 4.21"
Megalodon tooth from Venice, Florida, with well-preserved serrations with few of them missing. The root lobe shows a little damage, and the bourlette is jet-black.
The Megalodon, Otodus megalodon, was a massive prehistoric predator that lived about 23 to 3.6 million years ago. It could grow up to 60 feet (18 meters) long and had large, serrated teeth for hunting large marine mammals like whales. These fossils, found globally including Venice FL, indicate inhabitation in diverse marine settings. The exact cause of its extinction is still debated by scientists.
