Venice Megalodon 4.06"

Sharp serrations, symmetrical shape and nearly perfect bourlette make this tooth stand out from the usual fossils found in Venice.  The root is smooth with hardly any cracks.  The bourlette has a tinge of gray and the enamel is very smooth with hardly any hydration cracks.   Definitely in the top 10% as far as quality goes for this location. 

The Megalodon, Otodus megalodon, was a massive prehistoric predator that lived about 23 to 3.6 million years ago. It could grow up to 60 feet (18 meters) long and had large, serrated teeth for hunting large marine mammals like whales. These fossils, found globally including Venice FL, indicate inhabitation in diverse marine settings. The exact cause of its extinction is still debated by scientists.
