Sericho Meteorite Pendant .925
This Sericho Meteorite Pendant features a genuine, epoxy-stabilized pallasite meteorite that is encased in quartz and set in .925 sterling silver. Its thinly sliced structure allows for light to pass through the translucent olivine crystals. Each pendant is unique and you will receive variation of it.
Chain not included.
Discovered in 2016 by Somali camel herders near the town of Habaswein in Imilac County, Kenya, the Sericho pallasite meteorite quickly became one of the most celebrated finds in the modern meteorite community. Hundreds of individuals were recovered from the desert surface, ranging from small fragments to massive individuals weighing several hundred kilograms, making Sericho one of the largest pallasite strewn fields ever documented.
Sericho belongs to the pallasite class — the rarest and most visually spectacular category of meteorite — formed at the core-mantle boundary of a differentiated asteroid early in the history of our solar system. Its composition is roughly half nickel-iron alloy and half olivine crystals, the same mineral known on Earth as peridot. That olivine, trapped within the metallic matrix under conditions that no longer exist anywhere in the solar system, has survived intact for an estimated 4.5 billion years.
When sliced and polished, those olivine crystals reveal a translucent peridot green that glows brilliantly in transmitted light, creating a natural stained-glass effect unlike anything found in terrestrial geology. The nickel-iron surrounding them often displays the delicate geometric patterning known as Widmanstätten pattern, visible when etched — a crystalline structure that takes millions of years to form and is impossible to replicate in a laboratory.
Every Sericho specimen is entirely unique in its crystal size, color depth, and distribution, ensuring that no two pieces are alike. Whether displayed on a stand or held up to natural light, a Sericho pallasite is the rare intersection of science and art — an authentic fragment of a destroyed world, now resting in your hands.
