The Megalodon shark, Otodus megalodon, was a massive prehistoric predator that lived about 23 to 3.6 million years ago. It could grow up to 60 feet (18 meters) long and had large, serrated teeth for hunting large marine mammals like whales. Fossilized teeth, found globally, indicate inhabitation in diverse marine settings.
