Found on our dig in May 2024, a small piece near the base of the tooth was glued back into place. A fantastic specimen for collectors of Late Cretaceous theropod fossils.
About Nanotyrannus:
Nanotyrannus lancensis is a small tyrannosaurid theropod known from the Late Cretaceous Lance and Hell Creek Formations. Its exact identity remains one of the more debated topics in paleontology: some researchers consider it a valid, smaller-bodied genus distinct from Tyrannosaurus rex, while others argue known specimens are simply juvenile T. rex. Nanotyrannus teeth are more slender and more numerous in the fossil record than mature T. rex teeth, and they're prized by collectors for their fine, blade-like serrations.
