About the Meteorite:
The Muonionalusta meteorite is classified as a fine octahedrite iron-nickel meteorite and is among the oldest materials ever discovered on Earth, estimated to be over 4.5 billion years old. It originated in the core of a now-destroyed planetary body, formed during the very beginnings of our solar system. After traveling through space, it fell to Earth over one million years ago and was discovered in 1906 in northern Sweden.
What makes this meteorite so extraordinary is the Widmanstätten pattern—a crystalline structure visible on the surface that formed as the iron and nickel cooled extremely slowly over millions of years in space. This pattern is completely natural and cannot be replicated in any laboratory on Earth, making every piece truly unique.
