Lee Creek Chubutensis Tooth 2.04"
This golden-beige Chubutensis tooth from Lee Creek exhibits semi-glossy enamel, well-defined serrations—with a few missing—and two distinctive side cusps. This specimen is an exceptional example of the species and a valuable addition to any collection.
The Chubutensis (Otodus chubutensis) was a massive prehistoric predator that lived during the Miocene and early Pliocene epochs. Considered an evolutionary link between Otodus obliquus and Otodus megalodon, it had large, serrated teeth with distinctive side cusps, which later disappeared in its descendant, Megalodon. Fossils of Chubutensis have been found worldwide, indicating it thrived in diverse marine environments, preying on large marine mammals like whales.
