Genuine Prehistoric Fossil Tooth — Meg 5.84", North Carolina

This genuine megalodon tooth measures 5.84 inches and comes from offshore North Carolina, one of the best known places in the world for finding megalodon fossils. It has a warm golden brown color that North Carolina teeth are known for. The tooth is serrated with a chip along the edge. It's a big tooth that looks great on display, which makes it a nice value if you've been wanting a large North Carolina meg for your collection.

Display stand included.

Ancient river channels and fossil-rich formations lie beneath the North Carolina coastline, laid down during shallow Miocene and Pliocene seas that were ideal habitat for megalodon and the whales it hunted. Ocean currents and storms continue to expose these fossil layers today, allowing divers to recover teeth like this one from the seafloor.

This tooth survives as a fossil because it was dense and enamel-coated, unlike megalodon's cartilage skeleton, which broke down quickly after death. North Carolina megalodon teeth are known for their classic coastal coloring, creams, tans, blue-gray, and greenish enamel, giving this specimen its own unique wear pattern and color from millions of years in moving seawater.
