Genuine Agoudal Meteorite in Glass Dome
Own a piece from out of this world. Back in 2000, small chunks of iron started turning up near the village of Agoudal, high in Morocco's Atlas Mountains. It was first known as Imilchil, after the nearby town. Hunters went back in 2012 and found plenty more, most of them sitting right on the surface or just a few centimeters under the dirt.
This is an IIAB iron, and the pieces have a warm, natural desert patina. Some of them, once cleaned, show orientation, flow lines, and small thumbprint marks left from their burn through the atmosphere. Most of the fragments are too small to cut, but one larger mass was sliced and showed something rare called recrystallization, likely caused when the iron was reheated by a second collision out in space. It comes in an elegant glass dome, ready to set out and enjoy. A great desert iron with real character and a story to tell.
Size
The meteorite weighs 31 grams and measures 1.21"x 1.05". The dome measures 3.25" high. The base is 2.41" in diameter.
