A pyritized ammonite specimen from Buttenheim, Germany, featuring an ammonite  preserved  in matrix, with the original shell material naturally replaced by iron pyrite. The pyrite has a semi-lustrous finish, offering a nice balance of shine and natural texture. The two pieces were reassembled with a careful repair.
