The Dusky Shark (Carcharhinus obscurus) is a large species of requiem shark, notable for its streamlined body and long, slender pectoral fins. It has a cosmopolitan distribution in tropical and temperate oceans. Adult Dusky Sharks typically measure between 3 to 4 meters (10 to 13 feet) in length. They have a dusky gray color on the back and sides, blending to a white underside. This shark is an apex predator, feeding on a variety of fish, cephalopods, and smaller sharks. Dusky Sharks are known for their long migrations and slow growth rate, reaching maturity only after several years. They reproduce via viviparity, with females giving birth to live young every 2-3 years.
