The Sandbar Shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus) is a requiem shark known for its stocky body, long pectoral fins, and high dorsal fin. Common in temperate and tropical coastal waters, it typically measures 1.8 to 2.5 meters in length. This species has a brownish-gray upper body, a white belly, and a short, rounded snout. Sandbar Sharks have triangular, serrated teeth, and their diet consists mostly of fish, rays, and crustaceans. They are usually docile, swim slowly over sandy bottoms, and can dive up to 200 meters deep. Reproducing viviparously, females have a 12-month gestation period and give birth to 6-13 pups.
