Pyrite Sun in Original Slate

Sale price$85.00

Single pyrite sun in its original slate as found.

Pyrite sun measures 3" x 2 1/4" on matrix measuring 10 1/2" x 5 3/4". This one has been reattached to the slate.

These have not been placed on the slate. Aside from cleaning and some micro blasting to further uncover them, they are as found.  Some may have been reattached if they came loose during preparation and cleaning.  I will mention it if that's the case.

Pyrite Suns

Pyrite suns, also known as pyrite dollars, are fascinating and unique mineral formations of the shiny, metallic mineral pyrite (FeS₂), which is also commonly known as fool's gold due to its superficial resemblance to real gold. These formations are particularly associated with Sparta, Illinois, where they have been found in abundance and have a notable local significance.
