Lee Creek Chubutensis Tooth 3.6"
This exceptional Chubutensis tooth showcases well-defined, coarse serrations and a beautifully preserved bourlette. While a few serrations are missing, the overall integrity and visual appeal of the specimen remain outstanding.
The Chubutensis (Otodus chubutensis) was a massive prehistoric predator that lived during the Miocene and early Pliocene epochs. Considered an evolutionary link between Otodus obliquus and Otodus megalodon, it had large, serrated teeth with distinctive side cusps, which later disappeared in its descendant, Megalodon. Fossils of Chubutensis have been found worldwide, indicating it thrived in diverse marine environments, preying on large marine mammals like whales.
