Jaguars are the largest felids native to the Americas, once ranging into the southeastern United States during the Pleistocene. This specimen exhibits excellent preservation, with rich enamel coloration and a partially intact root.
This authentic fossil tooth belonged to a prehistoric jaguar (Panthera onca), a powerful apex predator that roamed Florida during the Pleistocene epoch. Jaguars, among the largest big cats to inhabit North America, thrived in Florida's diverse ancient ecosystems.
