This remarkable fossil cluster comes from the famous Sharktooth Hill site near Bakersfield, California—one of the richest marine fossil spots in the world. Still set in its original matrix, it holds three Carcharodon hastalis teeth, a whale tail vertebra, a piece of a fish mouthplate, and a fish vertebra or bone. About 15 million years ago, this area was covered by a warm, shallow sea full of incredible creatures.
