Lee Creek Chubutensis Tooth 2.32"
This golden-beige Chubutensis tooth from Lee Creek showcases semi-glossy enamel, sharp, well-preserved serrations, and two small side cusps. A minor chip is present on the edge of the root, but overall, it remains an outstanding and highly collectible specimen.
The Chubutensis (Otodus chubutensis) was a massive prehistoric predator that lived during the Miocene and early Pliocene epochs. Considered an evolutionary link between Otodus obliquus and Otodus megalodon, it had large, serrated teeth with distinctive side cusps, which later disappeared in its descendant, Megalodon. Fossils of Chubutensis have been found worldwide, indicating it thrived in diverse marine environments, preying on large marine mammals like whales.
